Bio/CV: 

Mayzia was born and raised in Sacramento, California. She is a product of first generation to college parents, who stressed the importance of education. In her early adolescence, Mayzia participated in various academic enrichment programs through school and ministries at her church. The two most notable programs that shaped Mayzia’s education journey was Academic Talent Search at Sacramento State and UC Davis’ EAOP program. Marked as one of the best decisions of her life, Mayzia attended the University of Arizona, majoring in Nutritional Sciences with an emphasis in Dietetics. It was during her time at University of Arizona, that she found joy in volunteering and educating various communities about nutrition, wellness, and providing resources in food deserts. In the beginning of her professional career, Mayzia held various administrative positions and eventually found her way to the field of college access in 2017 with UC Berkeley’s Pre-College TRIO (PCT) program. Since then, she has been a RA with Upward Bound summer program, program assistant with DCAC, program coordinator with PCT, and program manager with DCAC/EAOP. Her love for helping people and contributing to a bigger cause is what keeps Mayzia happy and grounded. Outside of work, Mayzia loves to spend quality time with family and friends, eat, travel, and watch sports.
