What is it?

The SAT Test is an important component of the college admissions process. In spring semester of their junior year EAOP students are invited to enroll in the SAT Academy, a ten week SAT preparation course.  During the SAT Academy students receive instruction in math, critical reading and writing, and test taking strategies.  They also take practice tests and learn about their test taking strengths and weaknesses by going through the results with the course instructors.

When is it?

The SAT Academy is a ten week program that takes place on Saturday mornings from January through March.  The program kicks off with a student and family orientation and practice test in December and culminates with students taking the March SAT Test.  All students who enroll in the SAT Academy will receive a waiver to take the March test.

Where is it?

The program is offered to students in three locations to better serve students who live throughout the Bay Area.  These locations include UC Berkeley and Los Medanos College.

How do I get selected?

Students will be selected based on a comprehensive review of their applications.  The review will include demonstrated level of scholarship in preparation for university work and past participation in EAOP.  Students will hear back in November about whether or not they have been admitted to the program.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a current EAOP/Partner Program 11th grade student
  • Have a minimum 2.50 weighted GPA
  • Have passed (with a C or better) or are currently enrolled in Algebra II, Advanced Algebra, Math 3 or equivalent course
