TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF
I'm very proud to say I was born and raised in Oakland, CA my entire life. Being of Bi-racial heritage (African-American and Chinese) and going to public schools in Oakland, I found myself encountering the many beautiful and diverse aspects of my city. Outside of taking numerous AP classes at Skyline High School, I made sure to engage in many of EAOP’s enriching and supportive programs throughout the years. In addition to my numerous academic accolades, I was given the “Action Researcher” Community Ready award by Oakland Unified School District for my contribution in peer education at my high school. I partake in several activities in my spare time. I love playing basketball, listening to music, writing songs, playing saxophone and guitar, video gaming, and drawing.

WHAT DOES GOING TO COLLEGE MEAN TO YOU?
Saying “college means a lot to me” would be an understatement. College is an opportunity to further your horizons and broaden your understanding of the world around you. It allows you to not only further your education and knowledge, but to help you explore yourself---who you are as a person and what you want to do in life. I see higher learning as a golden opportunity to transform yourself and the world around you.

MY GOALS AND DREAMS
I’m Undeclared at UC Berkeley, but I’m considering Pre-Med or Business. I’ve always wanted to help people and elevate my community, so I feel those two pathways can give me the tools needed to do just that. After being more settled, I’d like to pursue public service in government and become a politician; I’ve lived and seen a lot of things that need to be addressed and solved.

HOW DID EAOP HELP PREPARE YOU FOR COLLEGE AND CAREER SUCCESS?
Undoubtedly, EAOP has helped me on my journey towards college and life in general. Providing me with essential information, support, counseling, and mentoring, EAOP has made the transition from high school to college more streamlined and seamless. From the Pre-College Academy, SAT Academy, and Summer Sessions at UC Berkeley, to applying for public and private colleges and financial aid, EAOP has given me the tools I needed to succeed and thrive. As the college application process can be daunting and overwhelming at times, I felt confident in my ability to put my best approach forward in the application process. I am eternally grateful for EAOP taking me underneath their wing---I highly recommend anyone who qualifies to join EAOP!
