Regional Manager - Southern Alameda & Oakland
B.A. Afro-American Studies and History – University of Wisconsin, Madison
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I am a beautiful Latina, born and raised in San Antonio, TX. I attended the frozen tundra aka UW Madison. While there, I organized to create a space and a voice for students of color across the larger campus community. I earned a degree in Afro-American Studies and History. Three days after my last final I moved to sunny CA and the beautiful city of Oakland, where I have lived for the past ten years. I spend my free time with my blended family, raising a dynamic eight-year-old girl who is in Oakland public schools.
WHY I AM COMMITTED TO THIS WORK
I am committed to social justice and racial justice in education. I am dedicated to ensuring all students, specifically first generation college students, immigrant students and students of color have access to higher education.
Almost all line dances are my favorites dances...soy Tejana! I have a beautiful, old, loving dog. I love trying various worldly foods found throughout the Bay Area. I enjoy getting in the car and seeing where the wind takes us....
WORDS THAT GUIDE ME
"Education is the property of no one. It belongs to the people as a whole. And if education is not given to the people, they will have to take it." - Che Guevara
