A LITTLE ABOUT ME
As a proud product of Oakland Schools and outreach programs similar to EAOP, education has always been an important part of my family’s standard. With the support of my family and various key mentors, I was admitted to UC Berkeley and earned my degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Psychology. Finding my passion for education and serving underserved communities inspired me to pursue an advanced degree in counseling. Soon after, I obtained my master’s in Educational Counseling with a PSS credential from San Jose State University. Now, here I am with EAOP, as a Regional Manager doing the work my 19-year-old self set out to do.
WHY I AM COMMITTED TO THIS WORK
I have always envisioned myself working in a field that gives back to the community that raised me. I did not find my true passion for education until my sophomore year at UC Berkeley while working as a mentor/college advisor at a local high school in Oakland. That experience solidified my passion to support students from disadvantaged communities to gain obtain a higher education and personal success. To see students face similar challenges that I once faced fuels me to be a vehicle for change, and to continue working to have every student have an equal playing field when it comes to higher education.
I love baking when I have time. I love traveling. I love food and culture. I would like to own and run a preschool one-day (kids that age are not afraid to speak the truth or how express how they feel).
WORDS THAT GUIDE ME
