A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Richmond, CA. In 2010 I graduated from Saint Mary's College High School in Berkeley, CA and in 2014 I graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a B.A in Social Welfare. Since the 6th grade I have been a member of the Making Waves Education Program, which provided academic and financial support to attend and graduate from both STMCHS and UC Berkeley. It was through this program and my involvement with Y-Scholars, Breakthrough Sacramento, and Stiles Hall Mentor / Role Model Project that I discovered and development my love and passion for education and working with youth. In the words of Making Waves, I hope to continue in this field of work as a means to "recycle my success" and assist future generations reach their goals.
WHY I AM COMMITTED TO THIS WORK
I am passionate about this work for two primary reasons. First, I am a product of similar work. Had it not been for Making Waves I do not know where I would be today. Having a support system that exposed me to the various resources and opportunities allowed me to reach and succeed in areas that I once thought were unreachable. Lastly, I am committed to this work because coming from an under-resourced community I have seen too many of our youth be forgotten or have their future decided for them. Through this work I hope to continue exposing the opportunities that are available for each student while encouraging to find their inner potential.
I get overly excited about anything related to superheroes especially Power Rangers, Batman, The Flash, Green Arrow, X-Men, and Young Justice.
WORDS THAT GUIDE ME
